Karen Ann Bogisch is a founding and managing partner of Goldsmith & Bogisch. She grew up in Seguin, Texas, and she was the salutatorian of the 1984 Senior Class at Seguin High School. Karen received her B.A. degree, summa cum laude, in economics, from Texas Lutheran College in 1988, where she was inducted into the Alpha Chi honor society and served as an intern for the United States Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Anti-trust, Monopolies and Business Rights in 1987.
Karen graduated from Boston College Law School cum laude in 1991, and worked for a Massachusetts law firm before returning to Texas in 1994. Upon returning to Texas, she began working with the Austin law firm in which Bob Goldsmith was a partner. Karen and Bob then formed Goldsmith & Bogisch in 1998. Ms. Bogisch supervises its oil and gas title examination section as well as working on litigation and transactional projects.
Karen is active in the Austin Bar Association and the Austin community. Since 1996, Karen has performed in Bar & Grill, a benefit show sponsored by the Austin Bar Association and the Austin Young Lawyers Association as a fundraiser for legal services for the poor and other charitable causes. Karen was President of the Rotary Club of North Austin in 2000-2001 and has been a member of its board of directors and the board of directors for its successor club, the Rotary Club of Austin – North by Northeast. Karen’s involvement in Rotary International has expanded to many countries throughout the world, and she was inducted into the Rotary District 5870 Roll of Fame in 2013. She is also member of the Civil Litigation and Oil Gas and Mineral Law sections of the Austin Bar Association. In 2001-2002, Karen was the Chairman of the Oil, Gas and Mineral Law Section and one of the Directors of the Travis County Bar Association. Karen is a member of the College of the State Bar of Texas which requires extensive participation in continuing legal education as a prerequisite to membership. In common with several of G&B’s attorneys, Karen is an active participant in organized sailboat racing and currently serves on the Permanent Race Committee, the Membership Committee and Keel Fleet Board of the Austin Yacht Club.
Karen is admitted to practice before state courts in Texas and Massachusetts and before Federal courts in the Western District of Texas.
Karen writes and speaks frequently on legal topics including title issues and easements and rights of way.
